Default Do U play your style from hand one?

I can't help but notice that A LOT of this forum's posts start with "I just sat down, no read on villain..." and more often than not, the OP gets stacked or crippled, leaving him inconsolable and desperate for advise on how he should have played the hand.

So my question is: Do U start playing your style of poker from hand one or do you take the time to gauge the table dynamics and your opponents?

Is so, for how long? Or what/how much info do u need before u start playing "for real"?

I play relatively straightfoward TAG until I can get a feel for the table. I rarely bluff against unknowns, and I start playing 'for real' when I have some reads. ('for real' means LAG/TAGish and making plays when the situation calls, etc).

Everything I normally do, I do from hand 1 (raising in position, c-betting, semi-bluffing, etc). I just don't get out of line as often when I have no reads.

Exactly what I do as well.

The other thing that I do is fire up 10 tables an hour or so before I play to play. After an hour of data collecting, I have a good idea of what tables to play and some background on my opponents.
