Some kind of set when he check-raises the turn. Either 22 or 88. I'm shocked that SB check/called the river.

I desperately want to fold this somewhere, but I can't.

I don't give credit for a set right off. He puts you on overs so he is pushing back when his 10 paired thinking he is good. Question is would he limp from UTG with KT,QT,JT etc. Could also be drawing to the flush or have a lower PP. I hate to see the river K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] but you have to call.

I think you played it fine.

Although it seems likely on the river that you're toast, there is no way you can fold it there without an exceptional read on your opponent.

Well-played.

if i had a set of eights or twos i'd probably cap this flop, but i could see the smoothcall/checkraise line as well.

if i had for some reason limped utg with 9-7 i would play it this way too.

Nothing you can do but hope. You have implied odds to call the turn to draw except against the straight. At 22-1 it has to be worth calling the river.

Indeed UTG flopped a set of 8's and MHING. Thanks all for the analysis, and good read Brash.
