I believe that the better cards you play, and then the better you play post flop, the more likely you are to suffer bad beats (when you get beat). Isn't this obvious, or am I missing something?

I agree. The majority of the hands I lose are due to someone drawing incorrectly to a hand and hitting an out. I've been quoted before saying "If it wasn't for luck I'd never lose a hand". Of course that is far from the truth and we all know that sometimes the frustration can get the best of a person.
