Default $200NL vs, 5/10 (6 Max)

Hi,

I'm trying to answer a few questions for a friend of mine. He's a very good 5/10 6 Max player and was considering a move to 6 Max NL. I attempted to answer his questions with the NL knowledge I have, but my hands-on experience is lacking (only about 10K hands of NL).

He was giving a comparison between 200NL and 5/10. I'm not sure if the two games are even comparable money-wise. These were his questions:

Which game is more profitable per 100 hands?
Which game is more profitable per hour (assume 4-tabling)?
Which game requires a bigger bankroll?
Which game has a higher standard deviation?
Which game gets in more hands per hour?

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

1 and 2. these questions depend obviously on how good he is at NL vs. limit. Though I think you make more money from limit given comparable skills.

3. I think the 5/10 requires a bigger bankroll.

4. 5/10 6 max has higher std dev.

5. Limit gets more hands per hour than no limit.

200NL will get you more $/100 hands assuming that 8PTBB/100 is roughly comparable to 3BB/100 for 5/10, but you play less hands. Also lower standard deviation for 200NL but higher bankroll requirement (assuming 300BB vs 20 buy in which is fairly standard).

If 200NL has a lower std dev, why do you need a higher bankroll? Isn't the bankroll directly related to the standard deviation of the play?

Based on what I know (and the few NL hands I have logged), I always thought SD/100 in limit was ~15 to 16 and SD/100 in NL was ~45.
