Default $500 Bellagio AKo

Daily $500 NLHE MTT at Bellagio. 75 entrants or so, about 45 are left. We start with 2000 chips and I am at 3200 or so for about an average stack. The blinds are 100/200 presently. There are about 20 minutes left at this level; after that the blinds will stay at 100/200 with a 25 ante. I have played very few hands as a result of being card dead. The only hand I showed down was 88, which made a set and allowed me to triple up against two other short stacks earlier in the session.

Folded to me in the CO, I have A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and open-raise to 600. The Button cold calls and the blinds fold. The Button is a loose-aggressive Vietnamese guy who looks a little like Scotty Nguyen. He has a deep stack, maybe 6000 or so, and has been bullying but has also hit some legitimate hands. He has a wild table image and is surely alert enough to know that he has a wild table image.

Flop is 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I check and he pushes quickly. I'm sitting in the 10 seat and he's in the one seat and the dealer is fat so I'm having trouble picking up any sort of action tell.

Call or fold?

This will sound like a bad answer, but it felt right at the time, and I wanted to see what he did and let myself breathe and re-evaluate before committing more chips.

You have Ace high...unless you have a strong read of a bluff I think you need to pass.

I think I would have bet the flop, making this decision a bit easier. But now that you have checked, I would fold. I think his most likely hand is medium pair (and you obviously aren't close to correct odds to chase a 6-outer). It's certainly possible that you're being semi-bluffed. But even if that's the case, you're either a dog (against QJ [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]) or a very slight favorite (AQ [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]).

If you don't mind a semi-hijack, can you provide a few thoughts on the daily Bellagio $500? Structure, quality of play, etc? I'm headed out next week. thx.

I think this one is close, but I would muck. I feel this hand is extremely read dependant and if you view the villian as truly aggressive and one who pounces on weakness (and views you as weak tight since you are card dead) this may be worth a call as you could be well ahead. Also, if you are somehow behind to a small pair you have 6 outs and if he has a flush draw it's pretty even money.

But I would lean toward folding in this instance because we have 13xbb still and have plenty of room to find a good spot. That said, I still fire 650 chips at this pot on the flop...

Well, now you've seen what he did? The standard play here would be to make a continuation bet on the flop. If he calls, probably check-fold the turn if it doesn't help us. If he raises, read dependent but very frequently fold. I think checking here is bad because he's an aggressive player. He's likely doing this with a wide range of hands but it's tough to know. I'd fold.

If your opponent has a pair, you are over a 3-1 underdog on the flop with AK.

I fold to the push. However, I would have just pushed on the flop as a semibluff. There is enough mopney in the pot that I don't think you should be looking to get away from AK, particularly with this flop.
