Default most interesting subject of all: my couch.

so i just bought a new couch and love seat, and had a really hard time deciding on the fabric color.

which do you like ?

i can't think of a better place to ask for decorating advice than OOT.

this is the style couch & loveseat i bought (pretty sure this is the same red as lipstick rendezvous, just different lighting):

i'll probably get like black endtables and make some abstract painting of reds/blacks to hang behind the couch. and buy a new tv and black tv stand. pics of current boring living room here.

hmm yeah you need a new couch.

my current one isn't so bad, except for this:

makes it really uncomfortable to sit on that side or lay down, because it's torn and broken so you sink in and feel the wood :/

Burgundy/darkish reds and dark greens are typically the two "classy colors." Very popular among the rich. I think they got it right on that one, which helps make up for the whole pink polo shirt fiasco.

I'd recommend the darker one. Easier on the eyes long term. Bright stuff is cool until you get tired of it, then it can just feel a little too hyped up and strident, kind of annoying. Makes you feel like turning away from it.

I'll go for a feeling of deep comfort as opposed to "Wow, look at me!" in furnishings any day. Cuz sooner or later, the "Look at me!" effect gets answered with a "So what?" or "Shut up already."

Save the bright stuff for accents -- pillows, lamps, whatever. The effect is much more stylish and less one-note, I feel.

that's pretty much what the sales people said that i got opinions from especially after i mentioned my roompretty much being small and white. they thought the brighter red would be too overpowering. they convinced me the darker red would go better with this style of couch, too, which is more traditional and less contemporary. (although it's funny they didn't think the bright red would work with that style of couch and then when i tried to find a picture of the couch to email my mom the only picture i could find of it was bright red and i think it looks nice in that picture - the one on display in the store was olive which looked nice too but definitely looked more traditional).

so after staring at it in the store for like an hour, i finally just went with dark red since i did like them both and was kind of talked into going that direction.

one way makes me want to decorate the room a little more fun, the other a little more traditional. it's hard to decide because i could see it either way.

then when i got home i kept thinking about how the couch i saw in the store (different style) that had that dark red fabric on it, didn't look that great to me because it seemed to have a rusty tint to it which i didn't like.

so then i kept obsessing over it in my head and thinking i should have just went with the bright red since that's what i had in mind before i went in there. so i called to put it on hold and had some friends go with me to get their opinion.

both really liked the bright red, i was surprised. and then even more confused because i expected them both to think i was nuts for wanting the bright red and tell me to stick with the dark red.

so i ended up changing it to the bright red...

brought the fabrics home to see, and got all confused again because they both look really nice and i could see it going either way. hehe. i'm so bad at decisions...

pretty sure i am gonna go with the bright red though. it's different. the dark red might be too similar to the burgandy i have on my couch right now and i think i want a bigger change. hmm...!!

I like the bright red too. We have a bright red sofa/loveseat and I love them. It's not too much at all, IMO.

Just keep it out of the sun, we had the sofa near a window and then rearranged the room so the back of the sofa faces the room and the back of it had faded and is kind of orangish now.
