I hate the ones who blatantly love one team and are just shameless in how they favor them on non-local broadcasts (local guys should be for the home team). [/ QUOTE ] That depends. If you're talking about the network guys, I agree. They should be somewhat impartial. But homers are the best. |

Am I the only one here who cannot stand Tim McCarver? [/ QUOTE ] I didn't mention McCarver because I thought hating him was a given. |

Re: Sports Announcer Pet Peeves
[ QUOTE ]
I hate the ones who blatantly love one team and are just shameless in how they favor them on non-local broadcasts (local guys should be for the home team). I hate constant references to Bret Favre's thumb, all the trouble he plays through, and how nothing bad can ever be said about him or the way he pretty much tosses up a minimum of 4 retard pick-me-off throws every game. I'm sick of hearing about the Frozen Tundra. I can't believe that Stuart Scott still occasionally says "cool as the other side of the pillow." I can't stand people refering to any game as war or a battle or to the players as soldiers. More than anything, I'm hating the attitude that a lot of the tv personalities are starting to get - that they're so badass and that what they did (when they played) was so hard-core. It's getting to be a pissing contest all the time with them all feeling the need to make sure everybody knows how manly they are. This tends to happen most with the football guys (NFL and college) on ESPN. Get off it. [/ QUOTE ] Hell yeah, we need the crew from Major League to come in to provide color: Harry Doyle: Monte, anything to add? Monte: Uh, no. Harry Doyle: He's not the best colorman in the league for nothing. Harry: Take over Monte, I'm in the bag. Monte: fly ball.......caught. awesome. |

All of my sports announcer pet peeves involve Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, and Joe Theisman.

Re: Sports Announcer Pet Peeves
[ QUOTE ]
The thing I hate the most about sportscasters is that the worst ones are the ones that work for the major networks. The Cubs and Braves have had much better broadcasters than ESPN, FOX, NBC, ABC, and CBS for as long as I can remember. I also really can't stand Joe Morgan. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Am I the only one here who cannot stand Tim McCarver? [/ QUOTE ] Amen to all of the above points. I hate listing to Joe Morgan so much that I find myself doing it on purpose just so I can point out the really stupid things he says. Tim McCarver is a no-talent jerk also. I guess I've been spoiled living in Atlanta and listing to the Braves' announcers over the years. This past year we got the "MLB Extra Innings" package, where you get about 11-12 games a day, and most of them are local coverage. I'll tell you what, most of these local stations make the ESPN/CBS/etc guys look really good. |

Re: Sports Announcer Pet Peeves
I even like Skip Carey. And he's the weakest of the crew. They are good, real good.
Here's hoping the Braves get it done this year. |

Re: Sports Announcer Pet Peeves
Madden would probably be pretty annoying if anyone took him seriously anymore. Nowadays he is pretty entertaining if you take it as comedy.

I hate Dick Vitale and wish he would die and/or stop doing games.
