Default Do you play when sick? How sick before you stop?

Today I'm home from work with some kind of bug. Aches, fever, sore throat, you know the kind. I've decided not to play online because I figured 1) sickness will mess up my concentration and 2) painkillers could do the same.

Do you play when sick? If so, at what point do you stop? How has your play been affected and what was the worst shape you've been in and still played?

I've faced this dilemma a few times. My solution has been to play vastly lower stakes and/or some other game. For example, drop from 400nl to 1-2 draw, or 50pl OH8. If you're playing small already, go mess around with play money.

OK, I almost certainly will play badly, but it matters far less.

I have done this with poor results. Avoid playing, your concentration will not be adequet and your A game will not be present.

Three of my five biggest one day losses came while playing when I was home sick from work...

Now, if I'm sick and bored and want to play, I play very small stakes or $2-$5 multitable touranments or freerolls.

I got pneumonia. Monday I tried playing with a 39.7 degree temperature and had to quit after 45 minutes cause I got real tired. Played 3 small sng's and not NL ring like usual.

Yesterday a little more and today I'm really trying to get hours in. Fever is down to 37.5 but my cough is driving me nuts.

Last time I was on a sickleave it was because of a bad neckache I got from lying on the floor watching Finland vs Canada hockey game and when Finland scored I jumped to the ceiling and strained my neck real bad. I took 2 days off poker then and the neck hurt for a month.

God I'm hooked LOL. When I die I'll take 3 days off and come back as a ghost fish.

One time I played with the flu. I ended up posting my biggest 1 day loss ever. Another time I played totally drunk on vodka. That was my third biggest one day loss I believe. I think playing sick with the flu is worse than playing drunk. I remember some the mistakes that I made when sick, and they were a lot worse than the mistakes I made when I was drunk.

I usually lose when I don't feel well.

I usually don't feel well when I lose. But yeah I do play badly when sick, tired, or when too many tables are beeping.

Wish I had listened to me and played very small stakes today...
