even though trying to punch it in almost certainly gives you the best chance of winning.

Without a doubt. Going to overtime is roughly a 50/50 affair, maybe 55% because you're at home. LJ from 1 yard is much better than 55%.

I think its exactly 50/50 because if the chiefs lose the toss their defense is pretty bad. I like the fact that he went for it because lets face it, its the raiders. Its not the Pats or some team with a real defense.

I'm glad this thread is here...I didn't want to have to start another one on this issue.

I realize the chances of anything happening on the kickoff are slim to none, but I'd be a bit peeved if I was the Raiders or a Raiders fan after they ran the clock down to 0:00 yesterday. Larry Johnson hit the ground as the clock turned from :04 to :03. Yet the clock was run down to the buzzer and the game is over?

Even a kickoff out of bounds allows a hail mary attempt (and I can't tell you how many times I've seen kickoffs go out of bounds when the kicker is trying to get fancy to avoid a runback). That was an absolute joke. I'm even more surprised that no announcer so much as mentioned it.

I'm not a fan of either team, nor any team affected by the outcome of this game. (I'm a Giants fan). This was just a football fan's opinion of the final sequence.

The tripping penalty was also a joke seeing as how the guy was obviously getting held.
On the other hand, the refs did let the clock run for about 7-8 seconds after KC called TO before the last play - which helped Oakland, or at least it should've in theory.

You want the refs butchering the clock? How about on 4th down before the Skins made their last punt, the refs RESET the playclock by about 15 seconds after they has lined up to kick it, letting the redskins run an extra 15 seconds off the clock. That was totally bogus.

Didn't end up mattering because the Eagles didn't run out of time, but would have sucked if it did.
