Default 66 vs TAG

Villain is 16/7.5/2.8 after about 250 hands

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 raises</font>, <font color="#666666">5 folds</font>, Hero calls.

Flop: (4.50 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, UTG+1 calls.

Turn: (4.25 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>.

Final Pot: 7.25 BB

Do you prefer leading the turn here? I went for the check raise due to villain's postflop aggression and the hope that it had a chance to fold an overpair. Whatcha think?

Thanks,

JC

An overpair will fold 0% of the time. However, he's likely to have high unpaired cards, fairly standard.

I lead the river for value on a safe card, sometimes check/call on an A, K, or Q depending on opponent. Folding to a turn 3-bet often.

If villan has an overpair he's not going to fold.

A checkraise here against someone with that aggr. may not be that bad. I still like betting though since I'd hate to have the turn checked through.

I would just lead the turn. The check raise is good if you KNOW that he will bet the turn, but it will very often be checked through here. It's very unlikely that he has an overpair here because he would have 3 bet the flop. Bet the turn and let him drop his over cards.

Here's my stats: 16/12/3.4
Don't try to check/raise me on the turn, I'll check through a lot. This turn check smells strange.

I treat guy, betting turn after being raised on flop having strong card. He is very likely have PP. He has no need to 3bet flop. I always wait turn to reraise to collect more money.
So check-raising turn is completely bad: villain will check with AK and 3bet with PP.

I think you either lost this hand to a higher PP or this tag sucks or he views you as a clown. The turn check sucks big.
