Default what is your breaking point?

Everyone's got to have some point at which the losses start affecting their play. So, I'm just curious what our breaking points are.

In other words, how many BB can you lose during a session before it starts to affect your play?

For me its never losing some amount of money at which my play starts to deteriorate. Its more the way in which I get beat. Earlier in the week I lost 3 full houses in the span of 5 hands and I don't think my play was spectacular after that. Being card dead (or flop dead) and losing a bunch of money doesn't really affect me but beats in rapid succession will have an effect on occassion.

I’m not sure exactly what my breaking point is, but I do know I’m past it if I catch myself playing angry / overly emotional. I don’t think BB’s lost is a meaningful way to estimate your breaking point. I know that sounds unrealistic (money matters), but for me it’s rarely the money that breaks me, it’s when I stop holding myself accountable for the decisions I make. For instance making decisions based on emotion rather than logic…or I’m angry that I got outplayed, didn’t play my best game, or lack knowledge that I should have.

For the record, I suspect my play deteriorates much more quickly, in a sense. I still usually single-table because I'm not that confident yet. And if I lose 50 bb, I definitely start getting frustrated. As much as I think I'm controlling my emotions, it probably does affect my play at that point.

Playing one table can have a psychological effect on anyone. You're very conscious of how much you're up or down. Winning isn't such a big deal, but losing can take a toll on you. It's much harder to "get even" when 1-tabling, and sometimes we tend to force certain hands out of pure boredom.

For me it's usually when I've made about 2 or 3 bad decisions in a row. I could give a [censored] how much I'm up or down as long as I'm making good decisions. Then again sometimes I'll think I've made a bad decision because I lost and that might put me on tilt.

umm say that when you're down 7K at 20/40 and 25/50 despite making almost all good decisions. it really sucks and it's bad to be "results oriented" but i think ppl who say they dont care about that money that much are lying.
