Re: Tricky multiway hand.
grunching...
You missed bets here. You should bet that flop, you don't want to get it checked through, you have good eqipty here. Turn, you have hit the flush, you don't want to risk it getting checked through (like it did) costing you money here. Edit: I misread, it did get bet, if you are going to play it this way, which I don't recommend, you should raise here, not just call. River- fancy play syndrome that worked, but you didn't need to take that huge risk to get more money if you just lead out each street. |

Re: Tricky multiway hand.
Lets see.. what the hell was i thinking when i checked the turn? I guess I was concerned straight draws and other marginal holdings would fold putting me on a flush. If i check and get a bet on my left, I can checkraise. I agree though that the risk of killing my action isnt as big as the risk of having the hand checked through.
The reason I call the turn bet is because I want an over call from the last remaining player. He's probably drawing dead. Hopefully he catches two pair, then I can cash in my opportunity to checkraise on the river. Fancy play on the end didnt work... no one called the checkraise. The reason this doesnt seem tricky is because I have a strong hand in early position against a large field. Generally it's safe and profitable to bet, bet, and bet... but its worth considering other approches when you have reason to believe your bet will kill the action. BTW, I dont normally play this way, which is why this hand is up for discussion, so avoid being too offended. |

However it's a common mistake among a lot of players to believe and find reasons to think playing straight-forward and betting is going to "kill action" i.e. finding excuses for FPS. |
