Starting hand strait....too tight???
I play mostly 1/2 and 2/4, so i want my starting hand strait to work for those levels.
Basically, I find my self pushing too many marginal hands post flop when I should be folding all together, I think. So here's my strait, revised from a post I found here.... http://www.tightpoker.com/texasholde...ldem_guide.doc ---------------------------------------- Power Hands: AA, KK, QQ – Best Played In: Any Position Raised: Always Folded: Never Requisite Callers: Any Number ------------------------------------ Top Pair Hands: AK, AQ, AJ, KQ, KJ – Best Played In: Middle/Late Position Raised: AK, AQ- Often in any position, AJ, KQ, KJ-Sometimes in late position Folded: AK-Never, AQ-Rarely, AJ, KQ, KJ-Often Requisite Callers: To Raise—one or less ------------------------------------------ Middle Pocket Pairs: JJ, TT, 99 – Best Played In: Any Position Raised: Sometimes in Late Position Folded: Sometimes against heavy betting --------------------------------------------- Drawing Hands: AT,KQ, KJ, QJ, KT, QT, JT, T9, 89, Axs, 22:99 – Best Played In: Late Position (Button/One off Button) Raised: Rarely Folded: Often Requisite Callers: At least three in addition to blinds ---------------------------------------------------------- I find that when I play to this, im VPIP about 12% and im loosing alot of Suited hands that are playable (J9s, T8s) Is this too tight preflop? thoughts... I the other side, I have been doing about 4BB/100 over the last 5K hands, which is better than i have done before, but am i loosing some potential money here on certain situations. |

Re: Starting hand strait....too tight???
These look far too tight. You should be nearer 20% than 12%. Loads of suited hands are playable in small stakes games. AJo,KQo and 99 are raises for me UTG. I also play small pairs from early position in most games. You can do this at 1/2 & 2/4.
I recommend buying Small Stakes Holdem. |

How do you treat your SB and 1 gap connectors? |

Re: Starting hand strait....too tight???
Asking how to play preflop is a huge question and one that I don't feel qualified or inclined to do. If you have SSHE, I would re-read the preflop sections and try to incorporate many of the ideas into your game.
You are playing in games with loose players. If 4 or 5 are regularly seeing the flop, you should be looking for situations to raise when you have a probable equity advantage and looking to see cheap flops with small pairs, high/medium suited connectors and high unsuited connectors. etc., etc. I'd advise reading this classic post - "You play too tight" |

Re: Starting hand strait....too tight???
Play more pocket pairs for set value.
Always raise with AK and JJ. Raise more on button or cutoff. |
