Short stacked in the SB with a marginal hand.
I think this type of hand is a leak in my game, I find these situations very awkward.
Final two tables of the 20r on stars. The big blind seems pretty solid, and aggressive, but not crazy, and I havent seen anything out of the ordinary by him. Table has been pretty tight on the final table bubble, so I will have more oppurtunities to steal after this-- blinds up in about 8 minutes. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t12000 (6 handed) converter MP (t365069) CO (t316518) Button (t130221) Hero (t141155) BB (t215889) UTG (t148320) Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Its folded to me... I hate pushing because only a better hand will call, and worse will fold (probably). Folding is way too tight, and limping just opens the door for him to kick my ass. I'd also hate to raise and have to fold to a push, and let him take it with a hand like Kx. So... My line is... |

I like limp reraising here, if he checks I'm leading most flops.

Re: Short stacked in the SB with a marginal hand.
Tough call. You have slightly too much money to push without hesitation. I can think of good arguments for pushing, stop + go, or just folding. I'd probably push, but perhaps this is a leak in my game as well. Still, it seems right if the table has been tight-ish.
Anyone else want to chime in? |

Re: Short stacked in the SB with a marginal hand.
you sound scared, so fold.
But pretty much any course can be taken (fold, call/fold, call/reraise, raise minimum, raise x4 BB, all-in) here without necessarily being wrong given what you've said about him. If you wanna go but can't face the prospect of folding OR calling to a push, then all-in! |

I agree with Pat. I complete- if he raises I push if he pushes I fold. If we see a flop I lead for 2/3 and go from there.

Blind on blind, final table bubble, A6 looks great to me.

I hate pushing because only a better hand will call [/ QUOTE ] Mostly true, but with your stack size, I don't mind just getting the blinds and antes, which you will most of the time. If you want to get fancy, I like Pat's line too, but I prefer dropping the hammer off the start. Regards, Woodguy |

Re: Short stacked in the SB with a marginal hand.
You need to push this. He has a healty stack and needs a monster to call here (well atleast 99+,AK). Pushing here is definitely +EV. Adding 20k+ to your stack at this moment for a relatively small chance of busting out is worth it at this point.
