Default Conspiracy Theory?

Poker Boom 2003-------->TY Chris Moneymaker
Love him or hate him 50% of us play because we saw him take down Sammy Farha on ESPN. Party Poker scores off this in the hundreds of millions.

Rakeback/Party Poker Implosion of 2005------>ESPN begins its coverage of the 2005 WSOP Main Event---The biggest poker tournament EVER. Party Poker scores again????

I was playing poker long before Chris Moneymaker was a gleam in his daddy's eye.

Maybe he means that Party timed this to take advantage of the Main Event TV coverage...

The fact that he's in the wrong forum is funny enough.

Regardless of his accuracy, which is difficult to prove or disprove, as is the case with most theories, perhaps people are missing his point.

In 2003, Moneymaker blew up the online poker industry, of which PP was the biggest winner.

In 2005, ahead of the biggest poker tournament in history, PP removes rakeback, saving alot of money, but hindering their ability to attract new players, and keep established ones. However, the hype surrounding the WSOP Main Event is very likely to create a mini-boom within the poker industry which will almost definitely make up for the decrease in revenue which occured after they got rid of rakeback, and likely increase their profits.

I'd say that irregardless of whether or not PP consciously intended to do this, it will in fact end up making them quite a bit of money.
