Default Wilson Turbo Texas Hold\'em????

I have been playing poker online now for about 6 months, mostly low/micro limit games on party. I have been doing quite well, doubling, even tripling my money, but have lately been losing, dwindling down all the money I have won (and I'm pretty sure its not just luck). I have also read Advanced Hold'em and have started reading 2+2's small stakes book.

My question is, how do i get better without risking more money right away? I want some time to develop before I go back. I don't think the fake money games are right, because they are so rediculously loose. Is Turbo Texas Hold'em worth the money?

Thanks for the help!!

I've used TTH, and I think that it is a useful tool. (In fact, I've considered bying the Omaha/8 version as I learn that game). One problem, however, is that I found myself using the "zip to end" function too often when I was not in a hand, much to the detriment of my hand-reading abilities. In other words, the game was teaching me to play only my cards.

You'd probably be better served to take whatever you were planning to spend on TTH and use it for some micro-micro stakes action. You can play a LOT of $.05/$.10 hands for $40. Also you might try bonus whoring as a cushion against downswings as you learn.

Hey Masonboy-

TTH is great I use it when I travel and get online or to try stuff out. But, I agree A_K that right now money better spent would be mastering the principles is Small Stakes Holdem against real players. If you have only just started reading it - you will need a while to digest, try some stuff out, re-read, post here, rinse, repeat.

Hope this helps!

If you're going to buy an offline poker game, get Poker Academy Pro. IMHO.

I have used TTH and did like it but was at their site recently and noticed that in the new version they appear to have different advisors for different types of play. This might mean that they are incorporating SSH type advice for loose games. If that's true it will be an even better tool. Has anyone used the new version yet???

I agree on Poker Academy, the AI is probably the best available for the money. But it may not help you so much prepare for the micro limits, so you're probably better off digesting SSH and playing/posting, etc.

I second that recommendation. It's not cheap, but it feels much more like a "real money" game than any of the play money games (or even lower stakes like $.05/$.10 and below) you'll find anywhere.
