I've long said that getting to play with the chips is easily half the reason why I play B&M poker.

I'll go along with others that the wackos you find in the B&M are a large part of the remaining 50%. It's just fun.

More and more, I find the poker part to be less and less important.

And, now that I have a bunch of Paulson chips at home, I can have a lot of the tactile feedback of B&M play without the long drive.

Same here. Unlike many on this site...poker for me is purely recreational, and my winnings (other than just to maintain a playing stake) are nothing more than incidental spending money.

So for me, B&M is much better than online (although I enjoy online as well). My job (military) happens to lock me into a specific sub-culture, and my work peers are very similar in age, wealth, neighborhoods where we live, marital status, etc. While I love the Navy as a job, the social aspect of it can be rather stultifying. B&M poker is a way for me to routinely interact with folks all across the spectrum. And oh yeah, the soft games help as well.

I will say, however, that I haven't found the 3/6 game at Pacific or Party to be any tougher or softer than the local B&M 3/6 around town (western shore Puget Sound).

Finally...what's the skinny on carrying around a large wad of cash in Texas? I'm from Texas, and return there to visit fairly regularly...might be some info of which I should be aware.

I've never played 3/6 live, but when I played 4/8 it felt like the party .5/1 to me. 7 players seeing the flop for 2 bets was common. That wasn't as common in the party 3/6 when I was playing it.

I now play party 15/30 through 30/60 and live 10/20 and 20/40. The live games are uber soft compared to online. You rarely get put to any dificult descisions.

I've played some of the Muck 50/100 overs players while they played the 20/40 waiting for a spot in the bigger game. Those guys are different..they will make some moves and try to push you around, but they play somewhat like a typical 15/30 party lag, will chase way too much post flop, and sometimes loose a lot of bets due to FPS.

Well, the guy I was talking to was telling me about a guy that was transfering a garbage bag full of money to start a new smoke shop in Florida. Apparently, because of the Texas border patrol, they are pretty liberal about searching cars. The bag man got pulled over, the cop said he smelled dope, and found the bad in the trunk and confiscated it.

I probably worded the original post incorrectly. I think the point was that you shouldn't transport items through texas illegally.

Apparently the guy was told specifically not to go through texas.

Anyway, I doubt a regular person would have a problem if they were just carying around a big roll.

It's partly the chips.

It's mostly the soft play. Commerce 20/40 live is noticeably easier than Party 3/6. It's incredible how many people still limp UTG in a full 20/40 game with QJo. Or Axo from any seat. Or cold-calling preflop with suited junk. And then there's postflop play which is often times just laughable.

I rarely found myself laughing at the Party 3/6.

Live is also a lot more fun and you suffer smaller swings on a day-to-day basis. (Has anyone ever lost more in one day at a B&M than one day online?)

And I'd much rather spend time with actual humans (yes, even the people at Commerce) than stare at my computer.

I've played 3 times in a casino now after tonight and I must say I think the shuffle needs to be checked. I think I lose more 2-3 outers live. At least I didn't flip a chair and throw my chips around this time.
