Default Goofy $10/20 stud/8 hand

This is the highest I've played on-line yet. The game has had a couple of table coaches, one of whom has inexplicably left the table broke. The other guy who stayed to the end has replaced him as head coach.

I think the three bet on 4th is pretty good. I usually just call there but I definitly see why I three bet would be a very good option for a number of reasons. I like how you keep the lead until the end also. Well played. I assume he isnt trying to bluff you on the end for one bet so I imagine he had a low or something that beats 8s and you got your half. Did he make an 87 low and you scooped? That would be way to funny! lol...

Read Ray Zee's Book.

Just kidding.

Nice hand. Would you mind explaining your thinking behind the three-bet on 4th? I think I get it but I'd like to hear it from your perspective.

I was representing Aces. If I fail to three-bet on fourth street, the high hand should know I don't have them and can play accordingly. If the low hand were something like 54, I would probably be too skeered to three-bet, Aces or no, but 27o isn't a terribly scary high board. 27o was the bring-in, so he didn't necessarily have to have a strong low draw. If I can get the high hand out, I'll be around even money with some dead money in there. And of course, I can always catch. After dinking around with some different scenarios on twodimes, I think my play was probably somewhat less than brilliant, but if I had played it straightforwardly, we would have nothing to discuss.

More or less what I thought.

So you think an argument could be made for keeping the other doink in the hand instead of isolating?

Default Results here

You can make arguments for doing a lot of things differently than I did. Leaving the King in would have prevented me from taking the high with my Eights, though.

B Mando guessed correctly. The other guy had a worse low and I scooped. I run good.

I have to admit I don't understand why you pushed it from 4th onward. On 4th you have no high and seat 4 is looking like a better low draw than you, why the 3-bet? Why push 5th? Are you trying to represent aces?

Given you're among the more respected posters in this forum I'll accept you played it well, but could you give a little insight to your thinking?

Strong work on 6th.

Why didn't you reraise 7th. He can't have you beat both ways. Many players raise with any low here (and of course every time with a 7 low or better) against your board figuring you might fold your 8's if that is all you have. Raising with an 87 is a bit bolder but you will see it and of course your betting got one high hand out, maybe you had the other convinced too.

Let me guess. Head coach 2 raised with his 87 low and pair of 7's, adding to your scooper?

Head coach could have a flush and a Seven low. While I figured that I would escape with half one way or the other, I really didn't think that he would raise without having me beaten in one direction or the other.
