Re: 1 88s and 3 TTs hands
Hand 1: Calling down is -EV, but folding the turn is more -EV. He could be overaggro with high cards or a spade draw, or both. Yeah, he could have a bigger wired pair, but I'm tempted to call down here.
Had villain bet in hand 2 on river, I'd have called FYI. He's likely on ace draw or spade draw. Hand 3, river call is very meh. Dunno bout that one. Your fourth hand is messed up, Button came out of nowhere. USE THIS: Bisonbison's hand converter |

This is Pacific, so i can't use the converter.
Hand 2 agree Hand 3 agree Hand 1: Isn't folding always 0EV? I see your point with the spade draw. Do you see this guy pushing a missed draw on the turn in this position? |

[ QUOTE ]
Hand 1: Isn't folding always 0EV? [/ QUOTE ] Hell no. You're talking preflop. When the pot is large enough, calling down has more EV than folding, because the money you're investing into the pot from then on out is less than the potential amount of money you could be making from the % chance you win the pot. Example: The pot is 50BB and you hold a good (but not great) hand. Your opponent just bet, and you can call or fold. For it to be +EV, you have to believe you hand is good more than 2% of the time. Since this is obviously the case, you call. Yes, you lose out on a dollar a lot of times that particular hand, but it's much better than losing $50 the times you should have called, but didn't. [ QUOTE ] I see your point with the spade draw. Do you see this guy pushing a missed draw on the turn in this position? [/ QUOTE ] I dunno, what do you see? He could have lots of things, this is where reads come into play. If he doesn't get involved in many hands after an hour or two, chances are you're likely f*cked, and then maybe a fold is a good idea. But if he's overaggro, then you 88 definitely warrants a call down. |
