What your strategy - advice???

[/ QUOTE ]

Check out the NL-Small Stakes forum here.

My advice. Start at the $25NL tables. The play at the 25NL is an insult to poker. Just play super tight and fold if someone moves allin unless you have a REALLY good read on them.

What's the fun in that. You'd get blinded away. Never make any money. You've got to open up your PF hands a little more than that I think.

The blinds are very small, so you are unlikely to be blinded off. The full ring tables are very profitable, but the correct strategy is to play very tight. With the new 100BB buyin, this is more true than ever since you will be paid off huge when you hit.

If you are looking for fun and profit, play the 6-max tables like I do. That's where the real action is, and you actually get to play hands other than AA.

I was going to ask you about the 10 vs. 6 handed tables.

Have you read the Lee Jones book? Is that helpful at all?

Since everyone has such a big stack (and thus the possible implied odds are huge), is it correct to, for example, limp late with 67s+, KJs, QTs, and such hands that could hit huge and be somewhat disguised? My full table ring game is WEAK!

I've never played a NL ring game.

One word: GUTSHOT.

Another word: ADVERTISE.

The fish want to think they have you figured out. "OMG he'll raise with anything! Re-raise!"

Much more fun than SNGs, but one draw out can really make you angry unless you have zen balls of steel and a hospitable roll.

Think Super System. There's a reason everyone bought the book.

If any of you are interested...

SSNL FAQ:

After spending the afternoon in the SSNL forum, IMO, there's more $/hr to be made here.

Winning Low Limit Holdem? Yes, I have read it. It's really just for limit games, and Ed Miller's book has clearly surpassed it in that area.

I think I heard that Miller and Sklansky are coming out with a NL book. I believe Daniel Negreanu is as well.

The best NL book available now is Super/System2. Sadly, the NL section of SS2 is almost identical to SS1, but there's still some good stuff in there. It could certainly use more examples and more discussion of low-limit play, but it's better than the others I've read.

I've noticed the same thing the last few days. These NL25 tables are great! I played them for the first time earlier this week. The low blinds allow you to sit tight and wait for the monster hand. And so far those monsters have been getting paid off.

I'm sure we've been at a SNG table many times when some dude takes a bad beat and than goes on tilt and pushes all in the next 3 hands. You sit there just hoping to get dealt a good hand. This same thing seems to happen frequently at these tables. (The low buy-ins anyway) Instead of winning his remaining 150 chips you win his remaining $15-20 bucks.

Don't forget that all poker players are liars. Somebody is losing in these games, but you wouldn't know it from reading 2+2.

Phil, a few people have told me that Pot Limit and NL hold em is a good book. Thoughts on that one?
