Default 400 AQs hand

400 nl, 6 max 6 handed, effective stacks 400,
I have AcQc utg and make it 12, it gets folded to the BB who calls. BB is knew to the game and i don't have any reads or stats on him.

flop is As2d4d
check, i bet pot, 24, and the BB min crs to 48, I call.

turn is the 6s
he best 50, i make it 125, he pushes and i fold.

my plan was to call the turn and eval the river, but then when he made a weak looking bet i decided to raise it up and then check behind on any non Q river. good adjustment, or should i just call, or just fold or something else?

I like your first plan. And for some reason I thought this was going to be this hand and I almost cried. I don't think I can look at AQs posts any more.

I think you wasted too much money to find out u'r beat with what is not a marginal holding after you got c/r on the flop.

I think u'r orginal line to call and eval is better.

FWIW, you can almost call the turn and river for the amount you raised on the turn.

From the looks of it you could have probably seen a river card for cheap, perhaps he bets only 75-100 and you lose the same amount if you lose, or could win the hand if he was just making a move on you. I dont think he was making a move, but not having any reads on him is a big problem so I would elect to just call rather than risk too much on an all in or what happened to you where you couldnt even see the outcome to gain some info. I think thats also another reason you just elect to call--to gain that much needed information.

I would have just called the 50 and tried for a cheap showdown. AK, AQ, AJ, 22, and 44 are all likely holdings.

You're most likely beat or tied here... but fold on the turn to the push is correct in my opinion.

At these leves, I used to consistently lose money in this situation ... convincing myself that the villain is "making a move".

The reality was that the villains were very rarely making such moves (especially with a minraise), and usually had me beat all ends up.

You should probably fold the turn when he bets ... but its oh so hard.
