Default first hand of a sng

obviously no reads. don't know any of the players from previous tourneys.

UTG, I pick up A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I make it 3x bb. It gets called by 4 players. Big blind moves all in. What do you do?

This isnt a sit and go forum, try posting in the 1-table tournaments forum.

For the record, I'd call if this was a partypoker sng of less than 50 dollars because I dont think the stacks are deep enough to lay this down, but if it was something like a stars sng with pretty deep stacks, id definitely fold,

Hmm... There are more than 1-table SnGs. Both PP and PS have 2 and 3-table. Seems multi-table to me.

It wasn't a STT. It's a 2 table MTT SNG.

It's a $20 buyin.

Nearly every poker book I've read says that AK is a good raising hand, but not a good calling hand. (And, of course, that in no way means that you never call with it.)

At best you are up against AK, AQ, AJ, or AT--maybe. More likely you are in a race with a PP. And, since you really don't know who you are playing against, it could be KK or AA.

You haven't lost much yet, and you will probably loose more often than not with this hand allin.

I fold here and wait for the guy to do it when I have him dominated.

You have to get to the final table before you can win any money.

Depending on opening stacks in relation to the BB, looks like you have odds to call. Your either off to the races or off to the rail. Only horribly afraid of AA or KK, and with these many callers and your hand, thinks its unlikely.

Fold. If you were BB here, I'd say push or make some similarly large raise.

I called....and ran into aces. Every time I've ever been all in with AK suited on the first hand of a tournament I've lost with it (0/3 now). The other two times were against baby pairs.

I think you guys are right, I think it's best to let AK go after a reraise all in.

definite fold. It's very early in tournament, you don't have a read, and all you're doing is drawing. Should be much better opportunity's later on.
