Preflop seems fine.

The flop cap seems good, but I think their may be a case (read dependent) for checking the turn to take a free card. I think you are not ahead here often given the flop 3-bet from UTG and the board. But then again, I usually bet this turn as well when it is checked through. Reads would be helpful for the turn action.

I like the river check given that the turn was check raised.

but isn't there value to betting this turn given it is still multiway and maybe the other guy has bigger draw, also my hand might be good, etc... or is this flawed thinking?

[/ QUOTE ]

What "bigger draw" is there?

Hero's hand - A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Flop - A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

What draw is there that would make MP3 keep calling UTG and Hero's bets and raises?

Looking at it now i'd say check the turn and take the free card......

but in the heat of the moment i would have bet as you did also by betting the turn as you did it won't be as apparent you've made your hand if a 3rd [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] hits on the river.

I don't see this being important unless you get to raise the river, and that's most likely to happen if you check the turn.

Yep. This looks like a "check behind with outs" situation to me. Fairly good chance you are getting checkraised on that turn, better implied odds if you check, and you'd like to see a showdown if you miss.

All of a sudden I feel like a weaktight nit.

Hobbs and Shant are total lags.

Personally I like checking behind the turn if we cap the flop. I think that when a reasonable UTG raiser three-bets an A high flop in this size of a field, I doubt we're up against KK or any other non-pair hand all that often.

Getting check-raised sucks, also.
