Default late push question

No-limit Texas Hold'em $5+$1 (real money), hand #886,719,379
5+0.5 NL Holdem Multi Table Tournament, 8 May 2005 Pokerroom.com

2 tables, 12 people left, of 265, top 20 paid

Seat 2: papadopoullo ($27,838 in chips)
Seat 3: Elston Gunn ($20,136 in chips)
Seat 5: frasci ($56,777 in chips)
Seat 6: pokerdirty [QC,AH] ($30,841 in chips)
Seat 9: Big Red 04 ($52,742 in chips)
Seat 10: XPloitUS ($28,464 in chips)

ANTES/BLINDS
Big Red 04 posts blind ($800), XPloitUS posts blind ($1,600).

PRE-FLOP
papadopoullo folds, Elston Gunn bets $7,500, frasci folds, pokerdirty bets $30,841 and is all-in....

Gunn had been stealing blinds with a similar bet lately. If i put him on a mid pair and think he'll fold, is this a good push? The small and big blinds have yet to act as well.

I'll post results later.

Thanks ahead of time.

i love the push, looks like he really didn't want a call with that bet,of course you may run into a monster, but this looks like a great situation most of the time for you to pick up some chips. if he does have that mid pair u think he has,he's pot committed and not likely folding, but i'd be happy with that race, and he may just turn over a weaker ace and you have him dominated.

The one thing you have to remember is that people constantly stealing blinds do get quality hands too.
Their plan is to steal steal steal, and when they get a good hand, make nobody believe them.

I don't think you are ahead in this hand. It seems like the kind of bet a stealer with TT or JJ would play. With the villain only having triple his bet, you have very little options.

What would the villain do if he tried to steal pflop, or raised with a quality hand pflop but bricked the flop? How would he usually play flops?

Perhaps a call preflop could have been appropriate if you thought you could outplay him on a flop. It would send a strong message to the blinds and let you get away from the hand if one of them picked up a big monster.

You want this pot heads up with the raiser, and most of the time you can get that without having to reraise all in pflop.

If you feel you are not one of the better players at the table (skillwise), I'd take the probable coinflip.

Its 6 handed, this is an easy push. Also, dont put him on a middle pair, just because you have AQ, therefore he must not have AK (or another Ax). Put him on a range of hands and then decide if your play is profitable against his range.

well that's not to far off what you had figured,u had 2 overs and the race was on,pretty typical for aq at a short handed table, when a tourney is running good ,i win this coin toss every time and am in good shape in the final table.
