1) Led Zeppelin IV

- Putting my dad's old vinyl copy of this on the record player when I was in 8th grade made music into my life's passion. These days, I'd rather listen to just about any Zep album than this one (ok, obviously not Presence), but it remains the most influential one in my life.


2) David Hume's "Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding"

- As far as I'm concerned, the best work of philosophy ever, and it's not even close. Nietzche's "Geneology of Morals" is definitely worthy of mention, but Hume simply nailed it right on the [censored]' head.


3) Small Stakes Holdem by Ed Miller, S+M.

- I see a lot of mentions of Theory of Poker and Super System. Neither of these books so directly allowed me to quit my job so I could make 5X the money in half the time, whenever or wherever I please. Small Stakes Holdem did.

I have found that answers to any questions (that are answerable) regarding life lessons can be found in:

1) The Bible, especially New Testament.
2) To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee
3) The Godfather I and II movies (never read the book).

OtR- A book that had an impact on me as I was traveling. Ambitious writing, it makes me optimistic and influences the way that I conceptualize story telling.

SoT- Amazing story, fascinating thematically. Scathing in it's critique of everything, it keeps my cynicism grounded in the hilarity of our lives.

OFOtCN- As I have stated in other threads, I believe it is the most perfect piece of lit ever written. It has helped me inspect our society and the American Dream. Has a profound impact on me as a writer. I can read this book over and over again. There are very few pieces of art that have given me more enjoyment. I think I like this novel more than most people [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]
