Re: The end is near
nobody knows. i wouldnt pay any attention to this release, party gaming is doing great.
it will certainly level off and drop a bit, but i think poker will be around for a long time. everyone who is doom and gloom has no real reason to say so, its mostly dead reckoning. |

Re: The end is near
I wouldn't worry about this either...I was afraid it was going to be an article about the US cracking down on online gaming....that is the only thing that would really scare me.
At least at the site I play on, games have been tightening up for some time now, and I've had to improve and change my style to adapt. Personally I don't see play tightening up much more, and if it does I can just bluff more (I know easier said than done). I've been hearing jokes for several months now about poker on tv, so its clear that to many people, the fad is over. Unfortunately, ESPN's lackluster broadcasting of this year's WSOP has probably helped facilitate this. I think the influx of fish is likely over for some time, but there will always be new 18 year olds coming of age who will want to pick up poker, and some older people as well. Remember, if you're good enough none of this really matters...in the nineties poker was probably close to as dead as its ever been since it was invented, and yet there were still the Doyle Brunson's and Barry Greensteins making a living off of it. I'm sure a number of marginally successful players that tried to make a living off of online poker in the easy early days make wake up to some rude awakenings, but this was inevitable to eventually happen no matter how big poker got. I would just continue to improve and maybe work on some other games other than hold'em and I'm sure you'll continue derive money from poker. |

Re: The end is near
Europe has yet to join in on the poker craze. Just wait and see what happens when WPT and WSOP start airing on the big european networks. This isn't even close to over.
