I am trying marginally amazing starting hands now, provided they don't get me in trouble, and I am in position.

1) Good starting choice?
2) Excellent fold?

Seabrook ($.50/$1 Triple Draw 2-7)

Hero: Ts 5h 3s 7h 8d


First Round:

xxxxx folds. yyyyyy raises to $1.
lucas9000 re-raises to $1.50. Hero calls.
xxxxx folds. xxxxx folds. yyyyy calls.


yyyyyy takes 2 cards. lucas9000 stands pat.
Hero takes 1 card.

Hero: 5h 3s 7h 8d Qc

Second Round:

yyyyy checks. lucas9000 bets $.50. Hero

let's assume you could put me on a pat 9 at worst here. would a call be correct for you to draw to your 8 in that case? or would that be too risky since your 8 is rough and i could of course have better than a 9?

I actually assumed you had a pat 9, or rough 8. 75% of the time thats what an opponent would have in this situation. I think (and I could be wrong) that it would not be correct to draw to the 8. I cannot determine the odds of triple draw, so all I have is a logical deduction without the theory to back it up. Interesting TOP question for sure!

Looks like Lucas is on a rough 8, maybe 9. In position I would play this the same way. You're drawing a little rough and Player Y could still be involved (and if I remember right mysteriace wasnt awful) which makes a call look less attractive.

For 2? What if I was 3rd to act against 2 limper's, would you raise? I think I've been too tight pre-flop in some situations, there are many combinations I am leaving out hence why I said what the hell.. lets try something stupid.

i'm curious as to what hands you think you are leaving out, and thus being too tight.

There are some players I'd play it against for two, or maybe even reraise -- I don't like this hand in a multiway pot at all, but since I'm likely at least a card ahead, and in position, there's a decent chance it doesn't get shown down headsup. I'm generally folding this if two people have shown interest in their hands. In the right game conditions I might overlimp and draw two against two EP limpers.

I've been spending a decent amount of my time lagging up the .25/.50, trying to determine what hands I should be adding, and which ones are stupid. One thing I've determined is that entering multiway pots without a deuce is trouble.
