Harrahs treated me like I\'m a potential terrorist tonight
I went to a harrahs casino tonight after 1am. I poured myself a pink lemonade and did one lap around all the tables on the first floor with the two girls I was with. I wasn't loud, uncivil, or unruly. I was my cool, calm and collected self... arguably the most quiet guy in the place. Some harrahs blond girl took my lemonade out of my hand like it was an alcoholic drink and asked for my id. I was shocked and handed over my drink and id (I'm 30). I was then told to leave the place after some guy wrote down my description like I was a terrorist; I hadn't even had the chance to place my name on the poker waiting list.
To make a long story short, I was basically treated like a potential terror suspect by harrahs. They gave me no explanation and asked me to leave immediately. This is their right as a private business, but it doesn't make it just. Security had no idea what was going on -- they had no answers for why I was asked to leave. I've been on the fence as far as racial profiling goes, concerning our country. But after tonight, eff racial profiling. If I get singled out at a casino for doing nothing wrong (literally), then there is no way racial profiling will justly work in the USA as far as terrorism goes. Harrahs stance tonight was inexplicable. They were acting like an anti-democratic government, taking away basic liberties, and jumping to conclusions with no rhyme or reason. FWIW, the girls I was with have no idea why I was asked to leave, and neither did the security guard at the door. |
