pacific java version

pacific started acting weird (consuming max sys resources) on me so I decided to strip it out and reinstall. in the process I noticed on the website a No-Download version, a java applet. anyone have any experience with it? better connectivity? I personally couldn't get it to load and fill in the graphics. (pacific, not work?! impossible!) one weird thing I did notice was there seemed to be 6-12 in there, with people playing it. but 6-12 doesn't show up in the client, before or after the reinstall.
