Obviously, this line is fine anyway, and can't really be faulted. But maybe checking to induce a bluff on the river might be more +EV here? I mean he's going to get paid off by AJ a lot here anyway, especially by someone who can't lay down TPTK like this guy seems to be, but maybe some kind of wacko draw like 98d might take a stab at the river if checked to.

I wrote out that I agreed with you and then checked stack sizes. I think whiffed draws are pretty likely to check behind since they can't expect much FE here, so we can't expect much benefit from checking. The benefit of betting is to get money out of weak hands hoping you've completely missed like a diamond draw that paired the turn or river.

P.S. I think you made a mistake in OP. 89d almost definitely checks behind this river, as he would've made second pair. A hand like QTd or Axd may take a stab.

given the calls made I'd like to assume villain isn't drawing and has a made hand?

villain with a tptk hand is likely calling you here whereas a missed draw is likely checking behind.

I think the latter outweights the chance of stacking the said villain.

No I'm still at the $109s, this was one of Custer's hands. Not that there seems to be a huge difference between the two as far as I can tell, but anyways..
