Default Button Resteal: Missed Opportunity?

Legends $5000 buyin day 2. LAG openraises UTG for 3x big blind.
He has a big stack. Next two players call. Callers are
passive with medium large stack. I am on button with 12x
big blind. Is this a good time for me to push (being there it felt perhaps right with the table dynamics)? Three players in pot have demonstrated ability to fold to reraises
on previous hands. Do I have to be in the big blind to
attempt a steal like this? My hand for the purpose of this
discussion is 72o (actually it was 93o).

No you don't have enough to make all 3 players fold. If you had 18x it would be a better attempt.

How about if I were in the BB in the same scenario? Thx.

Default Interesting Results

I was very tempted to push. I came very close to pulling the trigger. My intuitive senses felt like a push would work. I folded, the small blind folded, and then the big blind pushed.
His stack was around the same size as mine. The big blind was
Padraig Parkinson. Everyone slowy and reluctantly folded to
Padraig. I never saw what he pushed with, but I strongly suspect that he had a weak hand. After the hand was over I
felt like this was a missed opportunity for me.

meh, I personally hate stealing against UTG raisers. Even very LAGGY ones, since they also pick up real hands sometimes. If they are so LAG, they will raise in other spots where you can feel safer restealing, i think. Couple that with your stack size, and i don't think it was the right time to push, results ignored.

You don't have enough chips to get everyone to fold.

The 1st three players have put in 3xBB. Regardless of your image of those players, early position raises or calls generally indicate 99, AQ, or better. Atleast one of those playyers probably has a hand that good.

Also, resteal with a hand where you are not dead if called: 86s, Q8s, 22, or something.
