Default By the way...

"--Case in point. Ran into this guy a couple months back. Board was a J-high straight, he bet out, I raised, and he folded. He then "chatted" how I had sucked out on his set. He was right, of course... I held 98s."

--In case you were wondering, this particular anecdote is 100% fiction. If it had really happened, you know I'd have the hand posted within hours...

Seriously, though, I would be willing to make this play if the stars aligned just right.

Small pot and you can really only beat a bluff-slow-play. Against most I'd throw this one away on the turn when he raises.

Clarkmeister: 'Are you two nuts?'

JTG: 'I concur with Clarkmeister.'

Trying to make someone fold top pair on a non scary board is for the most part pointless. It's so rare that it will work, and will end up costing you extra money when you misread your opponent (like in this case). I don't think it's worth spending the time and energy to even think about.

"I don't think it's worth spending the time and energy to even think about."

--Now there's something I think we can all agree on. I do believe that there will come a day (no time in the near future, mind you) where I will try this. When I do, I will be sure to post the hand immediately. Until then, there's plenty else to focus on.

Come on...I'm already so damn good at Hold'em that I have plenty of time to think about situations like this that will only come up once every 48.2 years.
