It's ok the first time but I don't get the obsession with it. I think it is one of those movies people say they love just to sound cool

[/ QUOTE ]

No, it's definitely not.

I remember raising this movie in OOT some time back cos I love it so much, but I thought it was sort of unknown/a sleeper to most. It was a very pleasant surprise to hear how many OOTers liked it - I thought it was pretty obscure till that point. And I was cheered greatly when it came top of the 'best Christmas film' poll.

I think it's not well known in the UK (but we love it in our house). So when I tell people about it here, I definitely don't look cool, just a typical gushing film geek.

I watched it in the theater at midnight this year, as Christmas Eve turned into Christmas. I love when he's writing his theme and after reading his first sentence, which just describes the gun, he mutters, "Wow, that's great."

My favorite scene has to be the kid's eye view of Santa's boot to the face.

This movie is a classic xmas movie. Your opinion sucks.

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed - it might be guilty of overexposure since TBS/TNT decided to play it around the clock 10-15 years ago, but when you look at most of the other crappy Xmas movies out there this is the best of the bunch.

I don't like it either. I prefer:

Lethal Weapon
Miracle on 34th Street
It's a Wonderful Life
pretty much any version of a Christmas Carol
the claymation Rudolph with the yeti and the gay elf dentist
Charlie Brown with the [censored] tree
claymation Frosty
Silent Night Deadly Night
Silent Night Deadly Night 2
Silent Night Deadly Night 3
Silent Night Deadly Night 4
Silent Night Deadly Night 5

Interesting. Where does "Die Hard" fit on this list?

People always say Die Hard and Lethal Weapon for Chrimbo action, so here's a prop for 'Long Kiss Goodnight' - I love this one!

I'm really not much of a Die Hard fan, and it doesn't really feel like a Christmas movie to me. For some reason Lethal Weapon did, perhaps because I used to be generally depressed around the holidays.

Maybe it's just Bruce Willis, since I can't think of a movie he was in outside of The Jackal that I enjoy at all. I'll imdb him and see if I can find any others that I'm forgetting. Maybe Unbreakable.
