Default turn decision, with overcards

Against an unknown villain at 5/10, do you usually bet this turn?

Incidentally, I try to mix up the flop plays here, which I assume is reasonable. This time, I was considering raising the turn, had villain led again. I've been having success getting people to lay down middle pairs that way recently and wanted to see how this unknown player would react.

I bet this. There's no reason for the 2 to scare him, and you didn't give him a reason to think you had a K. If you had been doing a ton of calling on the flop and then popping the turn, you may have gotten him to go into a shell with a mid PP, but it looks like he was just taking a shot at the flop.

Good hand. Your line is fine.

What are the pros and cons of raising the flop?
Also, what do you do if he bets again on the turn?

These are important things to note on the flop, before the turn gets there.

How exactly do you know you got people to lay down middle pairs by raising the turn?

Hah, that's a fair question. I suppose I'm just making a guess. But I'm also putting myself in the position of my opponent. If I had a middling pair - and was playing against someone who had a pretty tight image, as I think I do - I'd definitely be tempted to fold in that situation.

I'm sure it happens, I just think you should be careful in interpreting your results. I think often it could be a bluff bet on the turn, and they simply fold their nothing to your raise.
