EV: looking at your outs, pot odds are there to stay: call or raise?
EV: looking at your outs, pot odds are there to stay: call or raise?
IE: 1/2 Limit, your holding say A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and the flop comes K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] You have 9 outs to the nut flush, there's 12 in the pot and the guy to your right bets (1). Pot's paying 12-1 and You have a 35% chance of hitting your flush so obviously you shouldn't fold, but should you call or raise on these draws, does one increase your overall +EV? |

Re: EV: looking at your outs, pot odds are there to stay: call or raise?
You need to give more info - what happened pre-flop? How many opponents are there? What position are you in? If you do not understand why these questions are important, you need to read and study more. In general, most of the time in a situation like this I would raise - you have middle pair, which may be the best hand, and you have a great draw. You want more money in the pot. However, every situation is different, so a general question like this is fairly meaningless. I'm not trying to be mean - I hope it didn't come off that way.

More info, please.
What position are we? We raised pre-flop? Any cold-callers, or did they all come 1 bet at a time? Anyone check before the post-flop bettor? Any reads? |

Re: EV: looking at your outs, pot odds are there to stay: call or raise?
Sorry, this is a general question, I understand there is more power in later positions.
Typical situation for this is a 10 player table, fairly tight, average 4 players to see the flop, so assuming 3 other callers with the hero who is sitting in middle position. With 9 outs (2 cards to come) you can expect to hit your draw 1 out of 3 times (recently I've had so much bad luck it sure as hell doesn't seem like it but I digress). So does building the pot for the one time you win make up for the raises where the fish called and you miss (they call with anything). |

no cold callers because there's generally not a raise, just a bet. we did not raise pre-flop from middle position with the Ax suited. No reads.

I can't imagine many (if any) situations where I wouldn't raise that hand on that flop.

How did 12 bets get in the pot without a raiser?

Im leaning that way now, but can't get away from the thought that 2 out of 3 times I miss the flush anyone with a King has top pair over me and at these limit tables the Fish fish with anything, so it wouldn't surpise me to see a K7 for two pair.
