I think the flop is where you went wrong - (Discounting he has AA,KK) - you are either way behind (22, QQ, JJ) or you are level (AQ) or well ahead. Villains raise could just be because he thinks you are making a continuation bet.
basically I would decide if I'm ahead or behind - if ahead - I push - if behind I fold. Either way you resolve the situation.

As it is you've got to the turn with no idea of where you are at - and can lose a lot of money here - or fold the best hand...

I would probably C/C here... but not happy about it.
