Default I have a simple Question????

HI,

I haven't been posting in quite sometime. Lot's of the Oldies here know me ( Andy, MRBAA.. etc ).. I am actually one of the 'Longtime' posters from way back when the software looked just a little different..

Anywhoo, on to my question..

Browsing the forums I keep seeing people referring to others as 'Donkeys'...

WTF does that mean? I don't normally hear that in my live $10-20 and $20-40 games and I rarely,if ever, play online.

Thanks,

CJ

I'm not sure the origin of the phrase but it means poor player or a poor play by an otherwise good player i.e. "I played that like a donkey"

Something tells me it has to do with a donkey being a 'jackass' ... but says it a little less cleaner.

I think it was Hellmuth who coined that phrased when he got knocked out in the early rounds of the 2005 WSOP.

Donkey is a common name for a poor player at sports (particularly football, or soccer as you'd call it!) here in England. I'm guessing it came from this side of the pond originally, maybe Devilfish's phrases rubbed off on hellmuth!

I was only kidding though. I've heard people being called donkeys (including myself) long before Hellmuth ranted about getting knocked out with AK vs KJ in the main event.

LOL, should have picked up on the smiley! I googled it and earliest references to a donkey being someone stupid include Shakespeare so think its been around for a while....
