From Pirates of the Carribean where he bizarrely fruited it up to the full-on Michael Jackson of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory(and neither of these roles seemed to need a flaming touch or benefit by it at all), he seems to be going on a public exploration of some private fantasies or something. It doesn't seem like it has anything to do with the characters he's portraying, and just seems like a repeated bizarre choice.

I actually have liked Johnny Depp before, for his willingness to take on unusual roles. Now it seems he's not so much taking on unusual roles as taking on relatively ordinary roles and weirding them out.

This isn't the first time this happened today either. I barely watch T.V., so I must get this stuff when I am signing into hotmail or something. Today, my wife says, "I didn't know that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachae (sp?) broke up." I respond, "You didn't know that?", in a shocked tone.
