thanks mb...duly noted. i'm a tight old bastard honestly. if you're in villian's shoes with AJ/KJ...i'm wondering if you're laying down to the CR from the blinds - i guess i probably am.

in case of emergencies: is the 'call me' turn bet putting the move at risk? better to push the turn? i felt at the time, my 3/4ish bet might be taken more seriously than a "[censored], he called the CR, i better push!" line.

i know, FPS...just for future reference...

I'm not a tricky player, but do like the track you took.

You recognized the possibility of a bluff on the turn and acted a move in advance. Not the type of play that that most would advocate. I use this type of play more than I should (and lose most of the time), but when it works.....GOLDEN!

Don't get yourself into this position will be the standard reply. Can't let that get to you. Once there, your job is to win chips or go bust. You made that decision earlier than the other guy and it paid off.

My post about a similar conundrum got nothing but "fold pre-flop" types of responses... Good imagination IMHO.

true -- he may have just been OESD'ing the flop &amp; turn. but if my suspicion is right and he's holding TPbetterK, my ONLY hope is to move him off on the river bet.

again: this is not my norm, nor do i advocate this. let's "pretend" you're life was at stake -- you HAD to get this pot from an AJ holder.

not that L3 with a full stack warrents such a play, but certainly we all will face situations where getting a better hand to fold is a must.

It's a weird hand because you were only bluffing in your mind. In fact, you were playing the best hand for value and probably played the flop and turn perfectly to get paid. You would only have been better off checking the flop so he could bluff.

I don't think at any point could you have gotten a better hand to fold.

I just think it is a bad play for that table, not a bad play ever.

How often are you watching a hand play out that has, say an obvious flush, and there is a big bet and a call and another call, and you think 'he has the flush', 'he certainly has the flush', 'he must have the nut flush' and none of them had the flush? Or something like that. If that kind of thing happens very often, pretending to have the nuts is not good.

Anyway, you knew better and know better and I'm rambling and getting preachy. It's just a game and bluffing is fun. Next time do it with 72o.

If my life was at stake then yes, however in terms of the SNG I think I check and then I get paid on the times when he's missed as well as losing on the times when he's hit.

If you check here, he will pay you a lot of times.

I'm aware it was a one-off, I'm certainly not looking to whine about the rest of the pot, but I think the river is in territory where you can't really change much unless your opponent is a total fruitcake and might call with 99 or something.
