Re: Does anyone eat pickled eggs?
I've had them. It was some years ago and not so yummy that I looked for more opportunities to eat them but certainly edible. It's not so much a sour taste as vinegary.

Re: Does anyone eat pickled eggs?
That's the thing -- does anyone put vinegar on their eggs normally? If not, then...why pickled eggs?
I guess I can see in the old days before refrigeration, just to have some around, so they don't spoil and all. It's hard to picture anyone eating them now though. I'm only interested because it sounds so weird, that now I want to try one. |

Re: Does anyone eat pickled eggs?
I feel like I would definitely hate pickled eggs, however this post made me realize that I wanted some hard boiled eggs, so I am making them now.

Re: Does anyone eat pickled eggs?
Trip Report:
1. Google Hard Boiled Egg (I am a 21 yr old male) 2. Place 3 delicious eggs in medium saucepan and cover with 1" extra of cold tap water. Bring to rolling boil, reduce heat to medium boil and anxiously wait 10 minutes. After 10 minutes place in the small saucepan which I cleverly filled with cold water (this prevents the inside from turning green , who knew!) Wait 3 more agonizing minutes... 3. Dry off eggs and try to peel them. These eggs are going very well with a Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat Ale. Peeling them was a task of moderate difficulty. 4. ... 5. Profit Perrier |

Re: Does anyone eat pickled eggs?
Pickled eggs? Only if they're purple.
Seriously, I have the recipe for Really Hot Purple Pickled Eggs if anyone's interested. They're quite good, and you can adjust the fire level to your personal taste. I've also done Scotch eggs, but that's been 20 years or so. (No, alcohol is not involved.) |

Profit Perrier [/ QUOTE ] You are severely overcooking them. This can hurt the taste. A large egg will hardboil in 9 or 10 minutes when put in water that is already boiling. Put the egg in the boiling water, and count down from when the water starts to boil again. Overcooking eggs can make the middle change taste, even get a sulfur type of smell/taste. |
