Default Re: How was the Borgata on the 12th?

One week later and everything still looks shiny & new.
On Saturday (the 12th) the "main" poker room was about 2/3 full in mid-afternoon. There's any area that's slightly sectioned off with around 10 tables--only one table was going in that area. The room definitely feels small and being in "the basement" doesn't help the feel of smallness. But the decor was pleasant and the tables & chairs are the nicest in AC. The deli is small but easily accessible and there are tables where you can eat if you don't like eating at the card table. The sports betting room is tiny. The electronic list board is a plus in that it's easy to view the lists but the lists kept moving around (you'll have to see for yourself). My overall impression was small, quiet, but semi-upscale.

Elsewhere in the casino...the lunch buffet was nice ($16.95) the highlight being the deserts (should've started with those) and the tasty gelatos. $16.95 seemed a little pricey for lunch, and the dinner buffet was $24.95. There are also some fancy-looking restaurants throughout the casino. There's some of the glass ceiling art similar to the Bellagio but on a smaller scale. And there were a couple of human "statues" that were fun to watch. Borgata reminded me of a scaled-down Bellagio. Pleasant enough, but after about 45 minutes we headed to the Taj to play some poker (which was packed from the time we arrived to the time we left around 12:30 am).

The room was very nice and the chairs are excellent. The dealers were very good (most are ex-Trop dealers). I like the fact that the room is downstairs away from the noise of the slots, but you will not get as many curious spouses that walk into the casino (with their significant other who wants to play slots) that get lured into the poker room (ala Trop and Taj). Oh well take the good with the bad.

I was there on Sat the 12th from 11a to 3p. There were 3 '6-12' games going, one with me giving my $$$ away. The game I was in did have good action. I believe there were 3 '3-6' games as well and some 10-20's. I saw Tiger 123 and I'd like to hear what he has to say about the room.

Default Re: How was the Borgata on the 4th

I stayed at the Borgata on Friday and Saturday July 11-12. Wanted to play 20-40 HE and was told 3rd on list, so I sst in a 15-30 game with slooooooow play, nooooooooo pots and mostly unknowing dealers who had not been prepped well. The room amenities were grand especially the chairs lounge area and small but slow snack bar. After staying ther for 4 hours played 30-60 hE at the Taj from 4pm or so until 2AM and 20-40 HE from 11AM to 2 AM Sunday. the 30-60 was very good and the 20-40 average. I think it will take 6- to 12 months for the Borgata to gain a foothold especially if they steal some decent personnel with a following. For now the Taj has a substanstial lead.. Hobart
