LINUX and pokersites
My work computer now has LINUX. What pokersites work with LINUX? What pokersites work with operating systems other than Windows? |

Re: LINUX and pokersites
I am definitely no LINUX expert, but can't you run a windows shell inside LINUX? Letting you play any of the sites.....

Re: LINUX and pokersites
Many year ago (2001 ? ) I used to run Paradise poker through a windows emulator in linux (wine). I remember that I had to tell wine to use some native windows libraries so that the scroll bar windows displayed correctly. It was not pretty, but it was more stable than running in windows 98.
Good Luck ! I'd like to know if you succeed. bubu |

Re: LINUX and pokersites
For sure pokerroom.com runs on Linux, inside your Netscape browser that has Java2 installed.
Unfortunately it will not run if you're using Mozilla as a browser. |

Re: LINUX and pokersites
My home PC is a dual boot with Linux and WinXP. I have not tried to play online poker with Linux. The easiest way would be to play sites that have Java clients that run in a browser.
I don't know of any poker sites that offer clients for Linux or for Mac's. It seems like they are missing some customers, probably more by not offering Mac clients than by not offering Linux clients. Then again, they probably don't figure they would get enough additional customers to justify the cost of porting their client software to platforms with a small market share. If you want to play on Party, Paradise, etc., you might be able to do it with wine, the Linux Windows emulator. You may need some Windows dll's to make this work, which may be a pain if your work computer doesn't also have Windows installed. I may try this with my home PC some day, but haven't gotten around to it yet. If I do, I will post my results. |
