Re: Your WSOP ME Day 1 assignment
On the PPM cruise I was in day 2 and it turned out to be a huge advantage for me because I got to watch the day 1 play for a couple hours and get kind of familiar and comfortable with it.
Being my first live-tourney this was important. day 2 was kind of tiring though...because the action didn't start until the evening and it came after a long day of touring around Mazatlan with the GF. I did bust-out fairly quickly on day 2...barely making it into the money. My stack went from $35k at the start of day 2 down to $15k in no time and I blame some iffy blind-steal and defense attempts more than any specific bad-beats...so perhaps it WAS fatigue related. I know now that I really should have been able to cruise into the $10k prize money for 144th place...but instead I finished 177th and barely got the $5k prize money. Anyway, you raise a valid point about the fatigue. The other point is that it would suck to have the short-stack after day 1a on Thursday and have to wait around for 2 days just to get eliminated in the first 5 minutes of day 2 on Sunday. For me this isn't a problem as I have no intention of leaving Vegas early anyway. no matter what happens I'll be sticking around Vegas through the 16th. But for others who might be interested in getting back home as soon as they are eliminated I can see how being the short-stack after day 1a would be pretty annoying. |

Re: Your WSOP ME Day 1 assignment
I wonder if 1A is an advantage because of how many internet noobs will be there (like you described yourself at PPM), that will not understand the pace of this type of tournament. No question you'll see some people get stacked with TPTK hands early.
As for being short stacked after day 1, I'm there for a week and a half. So it won't really matter that much. |

Day 1a...would prefer 1b, but not a huge deal either way.

Re: Your WSOP ME Day 1 assignment
Saturday (1C), which sucks, because the exhaustion factor might really reign supreme if I should manage to eke my way through a couple of days.
I didn't want Thursday, because I didn't want all the hubbub, etc., and I wanted to get the general lay of the land. But I sure didn't want Saturday, either. Bah. P.S. If you qualified through Stars and have not yet received your assignment, I'd get to emailing. Seems weird. |

Re: Your WSOP ME Day 1 assignment
Just got my email - i'm 1A - I wanted Friday, but definately didn't want Saturday..
I was at event #2 so I know the lay of the Rio, bathrooms, and everything that happens, so maybe it'll help.. who knows... At least I can fly home early if I bust on Thursday |

Re: Your WSOP ME Day 1 assignment
My plan:
-- Thursday - somehow survive day 1a....preferrably with a healthy stack. -- Late Thursday night into Friday morning - celebrate like a rock-star my day 1 survival -- Friday aft through evening - Recover from celebration -- Friday night into Sat morn - Celebrate again. -- Sat aft through evening through overnight - Recover from celebration -- Sunday morning - Ready for day 2. |
