Dominic,
you gotta realize that most people on here are the OCD types who must see that everything has a purpose or reason and must be properly done. they cant understand if some things are better hollywooded up because its their nature.

As someone who has sold scripts and written for TV, I can honestly say I'm enjoying this show. It's well-written, well-acted, extremely well-shot....yes, at times there's an over-the-top moment - but HEY, IT'S TV!

It's a melodrama, people. A soap opera. Not a documentary.

I agree with you that the accuracy of the poker scenes don't matter, and yes it's well acted and well shot. But I think it's horribly written. Much of the plot and scenes simply make no sense and the characters are entirely unrealistic. Not because of their poker skills, mind you, but because their words and actions don't match up.

There are some good lines, but they are usually so memorable because of how ridiculous they are.

I really feel that all this 'hate' for the show is because everyone on this site feels 'superior' in their poker.

Its a TV show. Its entertainment.
How do you feel doctors feel watching ER or similar shows? Or police detectives watching CSI.... lawyers watching The Practice/Law and Order.... ect.ect...
Im sure those shows arent 100% accurate, and many of the things they say are pretty retarded. But you and I dont know that because we dont know how it is really done.
So of course everyone here will be a little more judgemental when watching Tilt.

And at first, I thought the same as all of you did. The first few episodes were bad... but the story hadnt totally unfolded yet...

as the show has continued I have started to like it more. Interesting plot so far, in my opinion. As entertainment, that is... not trying to duplicate real life.
If they wanted to duplicate real life it would be BORING.

Do you think Eddie would tag his daughter twice since he took that beating? Do you think she would still stick around?
Im sorry, in the real world, that wouldnt happen.
But the show, like ALL SHOWS today, needs a little T&A for ratings. So he stays and gets and 'early birthday'

While this is far from my favorite show ever... im entertained and will continue to watch.

I agree, great entertainment, and it does it's secondary job of bringing in new players (at least around here). I don't really have a problem with any of the inconsistancies (sp?) except in the most recent episode. The fact that stealing that tape made it "ok" for the kids to come back into the casino is a little dumb. They would be tosses due to the "Right to Refuse Service Act".
Overall, I still look forward to new episodes quite a bit.

I just saw a commercial for Tilt next week with new footage. Phil Hellmuth is featured prominently going up against The Matador and it looks like this will be the final hand for our hero Phil:

Phil: K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Matador: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Board: K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] - Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] - 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] - K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] - (river not dealt yet)

The results of this hand are implied in Phil's commentary in this months card player magazine.......
