Open limp with monsters?
I'm a 16/8/1,5 player at party 0,5/1. The typical table shows VP$IP of 20% and PFR of about 6%.
Now, every time I open limp from EP with AA and KK it seems to blow the field away, often ending up with a blind steal. This would be fine for the weaker raising hands like TT and KQ but for the monsters it would be nice with some more action. I re-read the preflop chapter of SSH last night and it doesn't really touch this matter. Another benefit of not open raising is of course that you don't give your hand away. Any ideas of how to act with respect to various kinds of tables? |

Find better tables.
The games are supposed to be looser the smaller the stakes get. I haven't played lower than 1/2 in over a year and I don't ever need to play a game with a VPIP of less than 28. Table selection, I suck at table selection but even I can see you need to choose better games. And open-limping with monsters is not a good idea in low limits except in rare cases (maniac raising > 30% of hands) and then your limping to limp-reraise. Re: Open limp with monsters?
The other answer (when table selection is thinner and everyone loves to fold; sup Absolute 1/2!) is to get the goddamn steamroller out and keep raising. KJs UTG? Raise! 55 in MP1? Raise! A7o in MP3? Raise! 64o UTG+2? Well you still need to fold that trash.
Keep doing this until you either make a fortune from stealing the blinds (Fillmaff style) or people start playing back at you with weaker holdings. Then once people think you are a LAGging donk (which you kinda are), you can get m4d 4ct10n on your premium hands. -K |

Re: Open limp with monsters?
You raise your monsters for value because you have a large pot equity (I think PT shows something like 75% of all AA hands won). You don't raise to protect and knock out players, but this is just what happens, especially when you are first to enter with a TA table image. But you're right, it's not too difficult to find >30% tables at 0,5/1.
