Default Dell 2005 FP vs. 2005 FPW

I was just wondering why most people on these boards talk about the FP and not the FPW. Is there some drawback to the wider screen that I don't know about?

Also, I was wondering if anyone can give me any input on the 2405 FPW. I can get one for around $1000, and I thought it might be worth the extra $500.

Any input is very much appreciated.

Yes, the widescreen has worse response and is more expensive.

Maybe this is just a computer geek problem that I don't understand, but why does the widescreen create an overlap problem?

each poker table is ~800 * 600. To achieve no overlap, you would need a display of at least 1600 * 1200. While the widescreen monitor exceeds the required width, it is only 1050 pixels in height. This would cause vertical overlap.

Thanks Buster. If the 800 x 600 per table is the case, then the 2405 should be able to fit four tables easily (1900 x 1200).

Do you need any sort of additional video card to run either of these monitors? I just recently bought my computer, so it is still relatively new, although not top of the line.

unfortunately I do not know the answer to this question. However I *suspect* that it comes with proper drivers for a standard video card. I believe also that Dell has a compatibility chart on their site.

For the sake of anyone else confused (like me until 5 minutes ago):
- The 2005 FPW is 20.1 inches wide and has a max resolution of 1680x1050. Current price on dell.com is $674.10. This one overlappes with 4 tables.
- The 2405 FPW is 24 inches wide and has a max resolution of 1920x1200. Current price on dell.com is $1,199.00. This one does not overlap with 4 tables.

When saying there would be overlap, I think everyone was talking about the 2005 FPW.

BTW, I still get veritical overlap at the cryptos with 1600x1200. I imagine with the 2005 FPW it would feel like I was using a crappy civilian monitor again.

My 2405 should be here by Wednesday. I'll let you know what I think.
