Default Orleans Hotel Vegas - Poker rates

I am planning a Vegas trip in March and called the Orleans for their room rate. They quoted 50 dollars a night which is a great deal. I understand that the hotel is off the beaten path, but the poker room sounds fairly large. Can anyone give me some feedback and reasons to stay or reasons not to stay at the Orleans? Any response would be appreciated. Thanks.

I stayed at the Orleans last spring. I liked it -- even though I only played a little poker there. The (poker) room was pretty nice, from what I recall. I didn't play in any of their tournaments, but I think they hold them daily. It's more of a locals place, but the price was right and I'd stay there again.

BTW, they have a shuttle that runs like every 20 minutes between the Orleans, the Gold Coast (near the Rio) and the Barbary Coast (near Bally's on the Strip). It's not a bad place to stay even if you want to go check out the strip. The shuttles don't run 24 hours, however.

Buffet is pretty good and not that expensive.

The whole joint is all DD bj games with the exception of 8 shoes or something. Nickle all the way up too hundred for minimums. 1 deck penetration.

Rooms are nice size and very comfortable. New tower has high speed internet access.

The Orleans is our favorite Vegas stay these days, now that you can't book Bally's for $70 anymore in the weekends.

Very good quality/price ratio. It's clean, well maintained and my fav feature: you can open the window in the bathroom and actually enjoy the view of the Strip while showering (if your room faces the right way)! Security is good, the spa (according to my wife) and pool not upscale but decent, and I love the tournaments. On the downside: the rooms are smaller than in the more expensive hotels, and in the room there's no entry area - the door opens directly into the bed area.

There is a free shuttle to the strip, but the last return is like 12:30 AM, so count on either renting a car (highly recommended, break up the gaming with a hike in Red Rock Canyon) or an occasional cab ride.

Best,

McMelchior (Johan)

How much time do you have to put in at the poker room to get the rate?

The hotel is fine -- a bit off the beaten path BUT it does offer good food --- good theater and rooms are fine --AS FOR THE POKER ROOM -- I for one do not care for it --- OTHERS THAT LIVE HERE LIKE IT ----it is a love/hate thing out here ----BUT I am sure you will be just fine there

I just stayed at Orleans a couple weeks ago...

Rooms: Clean and comfortable. Above expectations, except for the crappy pillows.

Food: Average. The buffet is cheap, especially for lunch.

Shuttles to strip: They are okay. Can be small and crowded. Cab fare is about $8.

Poker Room: It is large and offers a good choice of limits. Tight and dull games when I played. Many locals. You can find much better and more fun games on the strip.

Hotel is a good value if that is what you are looking for...
