You have to raise preflop, it'll push out hands
w/ an 8 or 6 in them, and KK is making a ton of money
off the other crap preflop calling hands these
players have.

Oh yeah, I also 3-bet the flop.

In the words of Bobby Baldwin, "Don't play big pairs slow before the flop. There's no surer way to get broke."

You already have a caller Pre flop. You need to raise this now to get junk hands out and reduce the field. On the flop, raise for value and info, if it gets threebet, then you can slow down, but right now you have a hand that beats top pair. The river does nothing, an 8 has you beat on the turn, but if you raise PF and make it expensive for gut shots on the flop, you have a chance to avoid the gut wrenching feeling of watching that 4 straight hit the board. If it was three-bet on the flop, I would be willing to call one on turn and river, but if the others got excited I would let it go. My $0.02.

RAISE PREFLOP. RAISE FLOP.

You have the second best starting hand in poker. You must raise preflop.

Raise the flop. It's probably someone with a draw of some sort.

Okay, the situation arose once more today. This time, I did what I thought you people would recommend. Let me know what you think:

PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Malarky is MP3 with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 3 folds, Malarky raises, 1 fold, Button calls, 1 fold, BB calls, UTG calls.

Flop: (8.40 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Malarky bets, Button folds, BB calls, UTG folds.

Turn: (5.20 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Malarky bets, BB calls.

River: (7.20 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Malarky bets, BB calls.

Final Pot: 9.20 BB
Main Pot: 9.20 BB, between Malarky and BB. > Pot won by Malarky (9.20 BB).

Results in white below:
BB shows 7c 9h (one pair, nines).
Malarky shows Kh Kc (three of a kind, kings).
Outcome: Malarky wins 9.20 BB.

Very well played in my opinion, Malarky - the 2nd hand, that is.

You need to raise preflop and turn. The second hand was much better.
