Default Has anyone played Craps using cards

I've seen this at Morango.
They play it with two shoes with cards Ace through 6.

1. Is it posible to count this game?

2. Is there a So.Cal casino that has craps with dice?

thx

Wow. Yes, it should be easy to count this game profitably if you get any decent penetration. This might not be the best simple system, but I'd keep a count of +1 for 5 and 6 and -1 for A and 2. A high or low count makes a 7 less likely. A high count makes low points more likely. A low count makes high numbers more likely. Take odds, and clean up.

If you can't take odds, count +3 for each A, +1 for each 2, -1 for each 3 or 4, and -2 for each 5. (Ignore 6s.) When the count is 0, the HA is about 1.4%. When the count over the number of decks left exceeds 2, it is +EV to bet on pass. Each unit is worth about 0.7%.

FWIW I just played there last weekend and there isn't nearly enough penetration to make it worthwhile. 1 card is pulled from each shoe, with each shoe having 6 decks I believe. They place the cut cards very close to the front, probably only 1/8 of the cards are in play before a shuffle.

When I was at the Morongo, I speficially asked one of the "dealers" if its possible to count the game, and he said "nope", because they use 20 decks (Ace-6) and only penetrate like a fourth of one deck (out of 20).

I was also thinking to myself how incredibly boring this was, and that this wasn't craps. The "stickman" aggreed with me and said he wanted to kill himself, and he hated his job, cause he did *absolutly* nothing. Just stood there, with a fake dice stick that wasn't hooked at the end, and just called out like a stick man would, but didn't actually have to do anything. Worthless game.

Once again, a simplistic EV-only analysis yields the wrong answer.

The game was designed to eliminate the ability to count it down from the start.

Default Another question

:sigh:
I found out Calfornia regulations don't allow dice craps. Harrahs SD has a version with dice, but they are only used to establish the point. After a point is established, cards are used.

My new question is about Don't Pass shooters.

If the DP shooter sevens out and wins thier "Don't" is it still thier turn to keep shooting?

thx

No.

Which is probably why most DP players always pass the dice.
That, and superstitious about "cutting their own throat".

I don't play craps at all, but I don't remember seeing any cards at Sycuyan right outside of San Diego.

I would think someone with a username describing himself as a card counter would have less attitude and more commitment to detail and precision.

Considering pzhon said it was countable "if you get any decent penetration," how exactly was he wrong?
