When to move up to the next micro-limit?
I have just started playing at PokerStars, and I have been playing the .02/.04 limit game. Now, I have only played about 2,000 hands, but I am up about 6.5 BB per 100 hands.
My question, then, is this. How long should I wait to move up to the .05/.10 limit game? I am pretty sure my BR is adequate, but I wanted to adjust to the players at the micro-limits first. Is there a hard and fast rule for this, or is it just based on how comfortable I am? Also, should I attempt to multi-table at the lower limit before moving up to the next limit? Because up until now, I have only been playing one table at a time. I guess I am really looking for answers to a lot of questions, and I hope you guys can help me out. Thank you very much. |

omg sample size variance wtf!!!1 Seriously though, good job. My question, then, is this. How long should I wait to move up to the .05/.10 limit game? I am pretty sure my BR is adequate, but I wanted to adjust to the players at the micro-limits first. Is there a hard and fast rule for this, or is it just based on how comfortable I am? The rule-of-thumb is to have 300x the Big Blind of the level you intend to play at. So, at .05/.10, a $30 bankroll should suffice. I don't anticipate a major spike upwards of the average skill level between .02/.04 to .05/.10... Also, should I attempt to multi-table at the lower limit before moving up to the next limit? Generally speaking, yes. However, because you're still at a nano-limit and you're putting up winning numbers, you could probably start 2-tabling .05/.10 once you're comfortable 1-tabling .05/.10. IMHO The most important issue with multi-tabling is personal comfort. |

Re: When to move up to the next micro-limit?
In my experience with the nano-limits on stars, 5c/10c is not that much different than 2c/4c. If you're cracking the 2c/4c game at 6.5bb/100, you should definately move up to 5c/10c barring you have enough in your bankroll ($20 should be enough, I started with $30 and have never dipped below that (at $43 right now)).
You should definately multi-table 5c/10c to maximize your winnings. I'm beating the 5c/10c for around 9bb/100 |

Re: When to move up to the next micro-limit?
Thank you for the tips. I think I am going to try to one table the .05/.10 game tonight for a couple of hours, and see how it is. I mean, if the skill level is nearly identical, I might as well move up.

Re: When to move up to the next micro-limit?
It really is identical. And the .25/.50 is not much harder at all. The .02/.04, .10/.25, and .25/.50 at Stars can all be beat for many BB/100.
I'm at .05/.10 right now, 3 or 4-tabling, and plan to move up to .25/.50 as soon as I reach $150. |
